It is recommended to visit the following sights:
In Vila Viçosa the royal hunting palace, the Moorish fortresses, the church of the national patron and the Pousada. A pousada is a very luxurious hotel, usually located in a monument. The pousada in Vila Viçosa is located in a former monastery
Borba (about 10 km). The order of Servas de Cristo has chosen Borba in the 17th century to build a monastery. In Borba are also a lot of marble quarries and it is possible take sculpting courses. The excellent Borba wines are produced in Borba and it is highly recommended to visit the wine co-operation
The pottery factory in Redondo, where terracotta pottery (dinner-sets and pots), which has been produced in the factory, is hand painted on the spot. This pottery can be purchased at a low price (about 25 km)
The fortified town of Elvas, where Dutch engineers constructed the city walls in the 17th century in the style of 'Naardenvesting' (about 25 km)
The golf courses in Portalegre (about 60 km) and Badajoz (Spain) (about 45 km). In Estremoz and Borba golf courses are being constructed
World heritage city Evora (about 50 km)

At a distance of about 15 km of Vila Viçosa there is a large reservoir with a shore length of more than 900 km with more than ample possibilities for aquatic sports
